6/10
SYNOPSIS: Vengeance is on the menu! Wrath of Man takes us on a wild ride with twists and turns at every corner as mystery man “H” (Jason Statham) is hired on as an armed security guard for a cash trucking business. During a robbery, H surprises his new co-workers with his secret agent like skills and leaves them wondering who he really is and what (or who) he’s really after.
RATED: R | Strong violence throughout, pervasive language and some sexual references
AGENDAS: Slightly dangerous stereotype against veterans, especially ones who served in the Afghanistan/Iraq wars and how they view Muslims. Other than that, nothing else to report!
NUDITY/SEXUAL CONTENT: Some sexual references and brief nudity but definitely not too bad compared to other R flicks these days.
OFA REVIEW: Just when you think you’ve seen Jason Statham in just about every action movie and scenario, the actor’s acting skills continues to surprise as he makes Wrath of Man its own film with a darker, more reserved Statham than we’re used to seeing. Although Statham was great in the film, his supporting cast wasn’t so much. The acting was cheesy at times and some of the character seemed like they were casted by Michael Bay in the newest Transformers flick (big movie buffs will understand the reference). Wrath of Man was enjoyable at times, but the execution of the plot was messy and a bit hard to follow at times. Once it all came together, the movie was enjoyable enough to keep your eyes on the screen, but it’s we don’t think it’s good enough to earn your dollars at the box office. Save this one for Redbox.
