David’s FULL REVIEW

6/10

RT SYNOPSIS: Finney, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer's previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn't happen to Finney.

RATED: R | Some Drug Use, Language, Bloody Images, Violence

AGENDAS/PROPAGANDA: Little girl prays to Jesus and at one point questions if He is real because she isn’t getting the help she wants. She later corrects this by saying sorry to Jesus.

NUDITY/SEXUAL CONTENT: None.

DAVID’S REVIEW: The Black Phone began with so much potential. The acting was the movie’s strength, however, it wasn’t enough to overcome its flaws. The pace of the movie was slow and the plot left many unanswered questions. The movie couldn’t decide if it wanted to be a science-fiction, ghost story or a real-life mystery, crime film. It should have picked one.. The movie’s ending was predictable and underwhelming. The Black Phone is worth watching at home, but save your money at the theaters.
