David’s FULL REVIEW

6/10

RT SYNOPSIS: Woody Harrelson stars in the hilarious and heartwarming story of a former minor-league basketball coach who, after a series of missteps, is ordered by the court to manage a team of players with intellectual disabilities. He soon realizes that despite his doubts, together, this team can go further than they ever imagined.

RATED: PG-13 | Crude/Sexual References, Strong Language

AGENDAS/PROPAGANDA: A line about global warming. Casual sex scenes and references.

NUDITY/SEXUAL CONTENT: Kissing, taking clothes off, but no nudity. Brief sexual scenes.

DAVID’S AGE RESTRICTION: 14+

DAVID’S REVIEW: Another missed opportunity. Champions had all of the pieces to be an original hit. The movie was dull and missing its heart. Champions was a comedy, but tried too hard to be a drama with forced sappiness. It didn’t work well. The screenplay was terrible and it was the movie’s downfall. Woody Harrelson saved it from being a complete dud, but even his charm and charisma couldn’t keep this film from being slightly below average. Save this one for when it drops on a streaming service in 2 months.
