Oregon Woman Who Bit Off Security Guard’s Ear Sentenced to Prison

Portland, OR — A 31 year old woman has been sentenced to 70 months in prison after biting off the earlobe of a security guard. On July 22, 2022, Ashlie Ruth Clark was confronted by Nordstrom loss prevention outside of the Washington Square Mall. Clark stole $800 worth of merchandise and refused to cooperate with LP before a physical altercation ensued between Clark and Nordstrom’s LP officers.

During the altercation, Clark bit off the earlobe of one of the LP officers. The LP officer was treated at a nearby hospital where it was determined that her earlobe could not be re-attached. Clark pled guilty to assault and attempted robbery and was sentenced to a little under 6 years in prison.

Retail theft has been on the rise in the Portland area due to short-staffed police and soft-on-crime DA Mike Schmidt. Inflation and rising gas and food prices don’t help.
